'' NOLS specializes in teaching teachers. In fact, we have been inspiring and teaching outdoor educators for over 40 years. On this course, whether you’re an aspiring or current outdoor educator, you’ll learn the latest skills and techniques from some of the best-trained outdoor educators in the world in order to support you in your outdoor profession.
This course offers either a 23-day backpacking expedition that includes four days of climbing camp or a 30-day backpacking expedition that includes a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification.
The backpacking sections are packed with how-tos on living, traveling, and leading groups in the backcountry. Granite peaks that reach 13,000 feet and high mountain lakes and rivers will teach you what it takes to lead and educate others in the West’s rugged ranges and beyond.
