The Principles & Aesthetics of Editing course presents a fresh look at the creative process that constantly informs the technical decisions you make in the edit bay: that combination of “right brain�and “left brain�skills that are the mark of a superior editor.
Through examining films and television programming throughout history, you’ll be presented with an array of creative aesthetic principles that lead to good editing. You’ll learn to examine your own feelings about how these techniques impact the editing process, working to build the kind of sensibility that will guide you in making your own editing decisions.
The hows and the whys of good editing are explored in detail, through examining how an editor works with time, with space, with performance, with writing, and with other members of the creative team, to create polished, professional work.
