'' This course is intended to provide the delegate with the basic skills required to use Microsoft Windows XP. It concentrates on building familiarity in the user so that at the end of the course they will have acquired sufficient knowledge and experience to use the Windows XP system with confidence to organise their files and customise the desktop.
Topics include working with the desktop, using the start menu and taskbar, working with icons, manipulating multiple windows, creating files, folders and shortcuts, searching for files and folders, using Windows accessories and help features as well as shutting down and restarting the computer.
Course Objectives By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:
Understand what Windows is used for Use a mouse efficiently Open, run and close programs that use the Windows environment Customise their computer to suit their own requirements Manage their files effectively Cleanup their system on a regular basis Course Contents (Course Topics may vary at the Trainer’s Discretion)
Starting Windows What is Windows? basic mouse techniques logging on to Windows XP the Windows XP desktop using and customising the start menu customizing the taskbar moving and resizing a window logging off of Windows XP shutting down a Windows XP computer Working with Software Applications using Microsoft Word & Excel running two or more applications simultaneously Exploring your computer Windows Explorer Examining the contents of computer Managing your files creating folders copying files moving files renaming a file or folder deleting a file or folder customising views finding files Modifying system settings the control panel changing the date and time changing the screen display changing mouse and keyboard settings Using Windows XP accessories using paint using calculator Creating and using shortcuts placing a shortcut on the desktop rearranging icons on the desktop deleting shortcuts Getting help displaying help information additional help and support center resources ...''
