Identified their own style of supervision and reviewed strengths and weaknesses
Identified their current leadership style and discussed alternative styles and their benefits
Reviewed the benefits of delegation as a motivational tool

Practised giving feedback on performance issues
Developed a range of practical skills to cope effectively with their responsibilities.
Course Contents Responsibilities: place in the management team; supervisor’s role; limits of authority.
Personal Awareness: styles of supervision �strengths and weaknesses; developing your own preferred style; personal authority; recognising the effect you have on others.
Leadership: styles and attributes; job enrichment; making an impact; personal marketing.
Communication Skills: avoiding misunderstanding; developing a positive and straightforward style; body language; the ability to decipher what is not said.
Delegation: what is delegation?; empowerment; answering the questions what? who? when? and how?; activities to be delegated; selecting appropriate staff; barriers to delegation.
Motivation: a practical plan; motivation needs analysis; why motivations change; meeting individual needs; motivation through communication and involvement; matching management style to the needs of the team.
Performance Management: setting work objectives and performance standards; giving and receiving performance feedback; remaining objective and unemotional.
Monitoring and Evaluating Performance: factors that affect performance; evaluating results; giving constructive criticism; handling discipline; helping staff perform effectively.
Power and Influence: influencing others using a range of different strategies; examining current work relationships and pinpoint problems; identifying and using your power base.
Handling Difficult Staff: understanding difficult behaviour; types of difficult people; gathering evidence; constructive confrontation. ...''
