'' Controlling your system
The System Administrator is a key role to the success of any Solaris 9 installation. The System Administrator is responsible for system maintenance and for the smooth operation of the system. Many tasks can only be performed by the System Administrator using ‘superuser�privileges. These tasks may include system backups, adding users and devices to problem solving and helping users.
Course Objectives
Administering Solaris systems involves many standard tasks including; starting and shutting down a system, managing printers and performing regular backups. Delegates taking this course will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to perform these tasks..
Skills Gained
Perform local system administration with Solaris Management Console (SMC).
Carry out boot and shut down procedures.
Install the Solaris operating system.
Carry out software package administration, including maintenace of patches.
Carry out disk and file system management and partitioning.
Implement system security and file permissions.
Manage Users and Groups.

Perform backups and restores using ufsdump and ufsrestore.
