The development of new Shell scripts and the maintenance of existing ones, in a manner that offers easy understanding to others, is fundamental to a successful Linux installation. These Shell scripts can then be used to automate tasks and functions either independently or interactively.
Course Objectives
To give delegates a good working knowledge of how to manipulate the shell as an environment interface and how to fully utilise the shell programming language.
Skills Gained
Use the various shell quoting mechanisms appropriately.
Write simple scripts to enhance basic command output.
Manipulate shell variables and user-defined variables in scripts.
Implement conditional execution facilities.
Use the shell’s built-in loop constructs where appropriate.
Write scripts to trap user interrupts.
