'' This course will lay the packet telephony foundation by presenting the technologies that are common for both Enterprise and Service Provider students. The course also teaches students how to use the available Cisco tools to find the information needed to accomplish their everyday tasks. Since no two networks are alike, this approach enables a student to apply the knowledge gained in this course to their specific needs.
Course Objectives
The primary focus of this course is to teach Cisco’s latest version of voice technology over IP, Frame Relay, and ATM.
Skills Gained
Describe and use the various tools that Cisco offers that relate to this course, such as command references, configuration guides, feature navigator, and bug tracker.
Specify the relationships between CODEC choice, payload size, and transmission bandwidth, as well as explain the effects of changing the default payload size.
Describe the voice quality problems inherent in transmitting voice over a packet network.
Identify how voice quality is measured.
Cite what a delay budget is and why it exists.
Identify how serialisation delay and queuing delay can affect voice quality in terms of packet loss, overall delay, and jitter.
Explain QoS and how it is used to solve voice quality problems.
