Training Course:Adding Cisco SIP and Enhanced Routing Support to SS7 Enabled IP Networks Boot CampSchool/Trainer:Convergent Communications, Inc. Silver Spring, MD, United States
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' Traditionally, ISPs have used overlaid signaling networks to support their disparate voice and data networks. This course is the second of two courses that teaches attendees how to transport voice traffic on the PSTN through an IP-based network using next generation technologies and services such as SIP, SS7 Interconnect for Voice Gateways, Carrier Sensitive Routing and prepaid calling services.
The Adding Cisco SIP and Enhanced Routing Support to SS7 Enabled IP Networks class builds onto the building block approach established in the first, prerequisite course, Building Cisco SS7 Interconnect and VoIP Networks for Voice and Dial Traffic. Students first verify that the VoIP, H.323 network built in the prerequisite class is operational. Students then add the SS7 protocol support by configuring SS7 Interconnect components, such as the SLT and the PGW 2200 as in the prerequisite class. However, this time, students configure an integrated SLT and provision the PGW 2200 using VSPT.
Once the network is complete, students implement Carrier Sensitive Routing (CSR) for route queries. Students will then configure a SIP VoIP network to co-exist with the H.323 network. The SIP network includes SIP-enabled gateways, SIP phones, and the Cisco SIP Proxy Server. Finally, students learn how to connect to an 800 prepaid calling service.
Course Objectives
After completing this course, students should be able to perform SS7 Interconnect for Voice Gateways deployment tasks such as installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of the components and integrated network. The course level objectives are:
Given a SIP network topology, build and troubleshoot a SIP network including gateways, SIP proxy or redirect servers, and SIP phones, and place SIP calls.
Given existing H.323 and SS7 networks, integrate the two networks with the SS7Interconnect for Voice Gateways components such as the gateway with integrated SLT and PGW 2200 configured with the VSPT and place calls between networks.
Given a requirement to route calls through the SS7 Interconnect for Voice Gateways network by carrier ID, integrate a Carrier Sensitive Routing server in the network so calls will be routed based on outbound carrier.
Given a requirement to offer shared Wholesale Voice Services in the SS7Interconnect network, connect to a shared service such as 800 prepaid calling.
