'' By providing an integrated framework of essential concepts of the scientific basis of medicine with early emphasis on clinical relevance, the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme imparts onto students the study of preventive, promotive, environmental and occupational health in the community, as well as a deeper understanding of the normal human body and its functions.
Graduates are equipped with current knowledge and skills with a holistic approach to the practice of medicine. They are also sensitive and responsive to future healthcare needs, and are able to function independently or as part of a healthcare team to carry out curative and preventive programmes in urban and rural settings. Additionally, MBBS graduates have the appropriate attitudes, demonstrate empathy and have the ability to communicate effectively with patience and other health professionals. ...''
