Course Description:

'' The Cisco Content Switch Module course is a 3 day Instructor led course. The course is approximately 50 percent lecture and 50 percent hands-on. This course is an introductory course which covers the utilization and programming of the Content Switch Module. Subjects discussed are Serverfarms, Real Servers, Vservers, VIPs, Server Load Balancing techniques, Upgrades, Stickiness, Persistence, Nat, Source NAT, PAT, CSM Stateful Redundancy, Global Redundancy and Firewall Load Balancing. The student should be familiar with the Catalayst 6500 in Native Mode and have a solid understanding of Routing and Switching. The student must clearly understand the OSI model. An understanding of HTTP is a definite plus.

The Laboratory exercises in this class will involve setting up the CSM in several scenarios so that traffic can actually be Load Balanced and obtained from Web servers through the CSM which the student has set up.

Objectives

Upon completing this module, you will be able to design and implement a content switching configuration with the Catalyst 6500 CSM. This ability includes being able to meet these objectives:

Explain how the CSM supports the provisioning of web-based services, specifying key features, scalability, and reliability issues.
Identify the design considerations required to configure the CSM to perform basic Layer 4 and Layer 7 content switching.
Explain how to optimize the CSM to perform advanced Layer 4 and Layer 7 load balancing.
Explain how to implement a high-availability configuration using multiple CSMs. ...''
