Training Course:System Modelling TechniquesSchool/Trainer:Stehle Associates London, United Kingdom
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online/Live | On-site/In-house | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' This course prepares candidates to sit the examination for the Certificate in System Modelling Techniques.
The certificate is primarily concerned with modelling systems from a variety of perspectives. It requires candidates to construct four main types of model reflecting these individual perspectives and to describe the interactions between them. The syllabus is constructed so that the examination can reflect different modelling notations and hence does not go into the detail of any one specific approach. The syllabus allows a choice of structured, object oriented or agile modelling approaches to be examined.
The modelling approaches used by Stehle Associates concentrate on notations that help with the communication between analyst or data manager and business user. We avoid approaches focused on system development such as SSADM and UML.
Who should attend:
This course is aimed at Business Analysts and Data Managers who wish to gain the ISEB Certificate in System Modelling Techniques. Systems analysts and business users will also benefit from attending the course.
Prerequisites:
There are no specific pre-requisites for entry to the examination, however candidates should be suitably prepared and possess the appropriate skills and knowledge to fulfil the objectives.
What you will learn:
Holders of the ISEB BSD Certificate in System Modelling Techniques should be able to:
Justify the need for modelling and modelling technique Explain why it is important to model system requirements from different perspectives and identify specific modelling techniques Construct a static structure model (for example; logical data structure, entity-relationship diagram or class diagram) Construct a process model (for example; data flow diagram, use case diagram, swimlane diagram, task model, business rules model) Construct a simple dynamic event driven model (for example; state chart model, collaboration diagram, interaction diagram) Construct an simple user interface model (for example; user conceptual model, web site navigation model) Evaluate how the various models reflect business objectives and system requirements (for example via critical success factors, business motivation models) Appreciate how the various perspective inter-relate to each other What you will cover:
1. The need for modelling using standard techniques
2. Types of model and different modelling "views".
3. Characteristics of the system being modelled; including the focus on current or proposed systems and the place in the life cycle of the use of the model
4. Terminology, notation and syntax of each chosen modelling technique
5. Rules for construction for each model and awareness of supporting documentation
6. Construction of models using appropriate techniques Process Modelling Static modelling of Data or Classes of Objects Event or dynamic behaviour modelling User interface modelling
7. Cross reference and consistency between the various models
8. Checking the models against business objectives and system requirements for consistency and completeness
9. Validation of models with peer group and business domain experts ...''
