Training Course:

International Business (Master Degree)

School/Trainer:

Sprott School of Business
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online/Live | On-site/In-house | Blended | Self-paced

Course Description:

'' Over the years there has been one constant in the changing business world - the increasing importance of international economic activity. Recent shifts in global manufacturing and trade patterns have affected most businesses in Canada. Whether big or small, a business will normally have suppliers, allies and competitors with foreign roots and global aspirations.

The International Business concentration is designed to enable managers to navigate the increasingly complex and turbulent international environment faced by all organizations. This concentration supplies the tools necessary to analyze international organizations, international markets and their broader contexts.

Many large corporations today specify international experience as a necessary step on the path to higher executive positions. The International Business concentration will appeal to managers moving into higher levels in their organization where global strategy and operations are an important consideration.

Since international business is as much a mindset as a collection of strategies, materials and exercises encourage students to recognize not only the positions taken by foreign firms and managers but the cultural values which guide their perceptions. Only by understanding the motivations of our partners, competitors and customers can we compete successfully in global markets.

With the above in mind, the International Business concentration was designed to address several core issues - such as the role of culture in international management and marketing and the question of regional versus global strategies - as well as a number of strategic concerns of international managers, ranging from a focus on emerging economies to mergers and acquisitions, cross-border supply chains, and doing business south of the border.
