Course Description:
'' Managing financial risk is an important activity for organizations that transact in foreign currencies, use floating rate debt, or deal in commodities. These organizations typically hedge financial risk using various financial instruments, including derivative securities. While hedging is important, setting up the treasury function to manage how and when the hedging is done is perhaps even more important. This course outlines accepted approaches to risk identification, risk quantification and hedging. In this context, it addresses organization of the treasury function to avoid common pitfalls such as excess hedging, mismatches, and rogue trading.
