'' Service providers use Cisco Metro Ethernet Switching solutions to offer Layer 2, Ethernet-based services that support point-to-point and multipoint connectivity. In the Cisco Metro Ethernet Switching Deployment boot camp, students configure and test the five Metro Ethernet services that comprise the Cisco Metro Ethernet Switching Solution for Service Providers, Release 2.X.Cisco Metro Ethernet architectures, features, and network designs are covered.

In hands-on labs, students build various Layer 2 virtual private network (VPN)Ethernet deployment solutions, including Ethernet Relay Service (ERS), Ethernet Wire Service (EWS), Ethernet Multipoint Service (EMS), Layer 2 VPNs over Multi protocol Label Switching (MPLS),and combination single and distributed provider edge solutions


Course Objectives

Course Objectives are as follows:

Relate the importance of Cisco Metro Ethernet Switching to service-provider markets
Describe, configure, and troubleshoot the five Cisco Metro Ethernet deployment solutions
Identify each service model’s and platform configuration’s caveats, such as virtual LAN (VLAN) implementation at the customer edge, tunneling versus trunking, etc.
Identify configuration differences between the Layer 2 Cisco Metro Ethernet Switching service implementation and Layer 3 MPLS
Identify the equipment and solutions that would best fit in given customer scenarios
Implement the features and functions of platforms supported by Cisco Metro Ethernet Switching, including VLAN IDs, Spanning Tree, quality of service(QoS) mechanisms, and network resiliency and security
Provision Cisco Metro Ethernet Switching equipment with the circuits required to support various service models across the classroom
Test configurations
