'' CMRS is pleased to announce plans for an additional Graduate Diploma with a Specialization in Applied Psychosocial Intervention for forced migrants and refugees.
This specialization graduate diploma is unique to Egypt, the region and globally. The diploma will be a collaboration between CMRS and the new International Counseling and Community Psychology graduate program (also pending final university approval) in the Psychology Unit.
Graduates will acquire core competencies that qualify them to think critically and analytically about migration and refugee issues and plan and implement holistic, effective, ethical, systemic and culturally sensitive interventions that minimize or alleviate the psychosocial issues affecting forced migrants and refugees at individual, family, group, community and societal levels.
They will learn to plan, manage and implement state-of-the-art interventions that make an impact on the psychosocial well-being of refugees adults and children without discrimination due to ethnicity, gender, religion or capacities at individual, family, community and societal levels. These interventions can be implemented during and after emergencies in urban, rural or camp locations. They can include but not be limited to the provision of humanitarian relief that supports human rights and dignity, provision of basic psychological first aid and psychosocial support, facilitation of psycho-education and support for families and groups, community and child focused activities in support of psychosocial well-being, advocacy, referral, protection, psycho-education and peace building.
The knowledge and skills acquired by graduates may be applied in careers around the world within institutions such as governmental, non-governmental and international organizations, universities and training centers, the United Nations organizations, research organisations and private corporations dealing with issues that have psychosocial consequences for forced migrants and refugees.
Students will have the option to finish the Diploma in one year of full time study or two years of part time study.
