'' Teaching (for Non-Education Majors)
The Teaching Program will assist participants in understanding and fostering the development of learning skills in upper elementary and middle school children, in classrooms, at home and within the community. Participants will acquire knowledge and skills in the area of child development in relation to classroom instructional contexts; fundamentals of learning and teaching; assessment for classroom teachers; home-to-school relations; and resources for classroom teachers. There will also be school-based supervised teaching practice. Each participating teacher will develop a professional teacher’s portfolio which will display their acquired knowledge and skills in various formats. All teachers who complete the program will be eligible for certification as a classroom teacher at upper elementary and middle school levels.
