Course Description:
'' The certificate program in teaching diverse learners will assist professional educators in understanding and fostering the development of the learning skills of diverse learners in the classroom, at home and within the community. The focus is on the inclusive education classroom. Participants will acquire knowledge and skills in the areas of child development in relation to the educational needs of diverse learners; methods of fostering the learning skills of diverse learners in different contexts; assessment of diverse learners; home-to-school relations for diverse learners; and resources for the education of diverse learners. The certificate will also include school-based supervised teaching practice. Each participating teacher will develop a professional teacher’s portfolio which will display their acquired knowledge and skills in various formats. All teachers who complete the program will be eligible for certification as a teacher of diverse learners. ...''
