Course Description:

'' CSR is a process whereby a business can demonstrate it is contributing to sustainability by taking responsibility and being accountable for its social, environmental and economic impacts - both positive and negative. From human rights to environmental pollution, resource depletion and globalisation, the role of business in improving people’s quality of life through contributing to sustainability is under the spotlight from pressure groups, media, Governments, regulators, customers, investors and employees. The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility and examine how it fits into sustainability which is developing faster than any other part of the business agenda.

Course Objectives:
Innovation and creativity on an unprecedented scale will be required to yield new ways of approaching the development of socially responsible construction. This course will examine ways in which businesses and individuals can take a central role in meeting clients’ needs, expectations and aspirations whilst ensuring that the economy, society and the built and natural environments grow and develop in harmony. Course participants will be required to apply knowledge gained during tutored sessions into syndicate work and role play. After the course, participants should have an awareness of CSR relating to sustainability; ethics; and business liabilities and responsibilities.
