'' This is a SuDS design course aimed at new graduate engineers. It will provide the basis for the design of Sustainable Drainage Systems.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the course the delegate should:
Be able to undertake soakage tests.
Be able to estimate greenfield run off rates.
Be able to design infiltration devices.
Understand the principles of attenuation.
Understand how SuDS can be integrated into urban layouts.
Course Outline:
Why SuDS? The impact of traditional urban surface water drainage.
What drives the current requirements for SuDS - PPS25 and the EA.
Types of SuDS and their uses with examples.
The "Management Train" - SuDS in combination.
Where do we start? - Site investigation requirements - BRE365, etc.
Exercise in calculating soakage rates.
Estimating green field run off rates - IoH124, ADAS345.
Exercise in calculating greenfield runoff rates.
Integration of SuDS with Urban layouts - need for early involvement of Engineers and Landscape Architects in design of developments.
Exercise in integrating SuDS in development layout.
Adoption and maintenance of SuDS.
Safety considerations.
