Objectives To enable delegates:-
Be familiar with the range of contracts available Recognise the appropriate circumstances in which conditions of contract should be used Note the principal differences between the different stables, types and versions of contract conditions Advise clients on conditions of contract appropriate for their projects
Course Outline: The Big Picture An industry-wide overview of the stables from which contract conditions for construction work emanate - their role and purpose in the market place (JCT, ICE, NEC, GC/Works, MF/1, G/90, PPC2000, etc.); advantages and disadvantages vis-à-vis bespoke contracts. Allocating Risks on Construction Contracts Recognising the styles and types of contract; how the allocation of risks varies between the parties; risks to be considered - financial, design, resource procurement, interface with other requirements. ICE Contracts A review of the conditions of contract published by the ICE; the role and purpose of different conditions and the circumstances in which they should be used; management structures. NEC Contracts A review of the 2005 (NEC3) range of contracts published under the NEC; how they differ from other contracts; NEC principles, ethos and objectives. JCT Contracts The current range of JCT contracts; the circumstances in which they should be used; management structures. IChemE Contracts Understanding the role and rationale of the IChemE conditions; their intended use and principal features; application of the contract outside process plant contracts. GC/Works Contracts The range of contracts published for use in connection with government works; the application of GC/Works contracts in the private sector. Other Contracts A brief resume of other contract conditions used for consultancy and construction works including ACE, RIBA, RICS, FIDIC, MF/1, G/90, etc. Course Review ...''
