'' A 1 or 2 day appreciation of legal, safety and practical issues associated with temporary works on site. Subjects covered can be tailored to suit specific client requirements from an approved list given below.

Limited previous experience is assumed.

Course Objectives:
Be the first part of a companies’ procedure for appointing competent and suitably trained "temporary works coordinators".
To help prevent accidents by raising awareness of common site temporary works problems and to provide safe, economic and practical "rules of thumb" solutions to these problems.
To provide and update delegates with sources of information regarding techniques, suppliers, legal requirements and procedures.

Company temporary works procedures.
Basic engineering principles.
Trenching, excavations and piling.
Soils, cofferdams and de-watering.
Mobile, crawler and tower cranes.
Scaffolding, loading bays and crash decks.
Building refurbishment, underpinning, structural alterations and façade retention.
Concrete pressures, formwork, falsework and back-propping.
Temporary stability during construction.
Guide to writing method statements, risk assessments and design briefs.
