'' Course Description
This 5 day class will teach storage network engineers detailed features and components of the Cisco MDS 9000 Multilayer Switch family. You will also learn how to install, configure and troubleshoot these products. Extensive hands-on labs are included which allow engineers to gain experience with the MDS 9000 command set and configure Cisco Intelligent network services including VSANs, Security and Management. A storage network overview is included for those students who have only completed the course pre-requisites.
Course Objectives
In this course you will learn how to:
Describe the storage and networking technologies and applications that surround the MDS 9000 Family.
Describe the MDS 9000 Family system components, features, diagnostics, and management capabilities.
Install the 9216 and 9500 Multilayer switches.
Configure the 9000 series switches using both command line, Fabric Manager and Device Manager.
Configure FSPF, Zoning, VSANs, Portchannels, Call Home and Security using Hands-on labs.
Successfully troubleshoot the SAN using Fibre Channel Analyzer, SPAN, and SD_Port.
The real-world lab topology includes multiple pods configured as a high availability core with connected edge switches. The extensive lab equipment list includes: Cisco MDS 9509 and 9216 chassisĄŻ, supervisor modules, 16 and 32 port fiber channel switch line cards, Cisco/Compaq and Cisco/Sun Netra servers, a JMR FC JBOD, Seagate Cheeta disk drives, QLOGIC HBAs, and other network components.
