The Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is the highest accounting credential in the USA and is similar to the CA Qualification in India. The Examination is comprised of 4 papers and is conducted by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The New Computer Based CPA Examinations was offered starting April 2004. However to be eligible for the CPA Examination one needs to have at least 15 years of education with accounting background. In India anyone with a B.Com and above can qualify to write the CPA Examination by getting his educational credentials evaluated by a body in the US and this process takes about 4-6 weeks. Because of the Eligibility period of 4-6 weeks registration starts 2-3 months prior to the commencement of the classes and closes a week prior to the start of the course
