'' This course will take a topical approach to Wagner, with a series of lectures covering the composers intellectual world, musical style, and influences. Topics will include Wagner and the French, his friendship with Franz Liszt, non-operatic music, the art of transition, the Leitmotif, and Wagners influence on the 20th century. Also included will be a lecture on non-traditional casting of Wagners operas. (Mario del Monaco actually sang Siegmund!) ...''
