'' This one-day course will present the rich architectural legacy created by one of the Bay Areas most innovative architects, Bernard Maybeck. Maybeck acted as a mentor for an entire generation of California architects, including Julia Morgan and William Wurster. A slide lecture on his work is given in the morning and after a brown-bag lunch, there is a guided tour of some of his buildings in Berkeley. The instructor will discuss in detail the various architectural features of each building visited and explain how these fit into Maybecks nature-based design philosophy known as the First Bay Tradition. ...''
