Course Description:
'' Professionals tend to concentrate on the technical aspects of their projects and as such, tend to spend less time and effort on the commercial and legal aspects of their projects. Most engineers though, often at an early stage in their career, will be in a position where they are required to either manage or administer a contract as a key part of a project for which they are responsible. Contracts form the basis of most projects, where there is a supply of a product or service for a fee. It is the contract that stipulates the type of relationship between the parties involved, identifies and allocates the project risks between the parties, identifies the obligations and expectations of all involved, and dictates the manner in which the parties are to work together on the project. A well developed and managed contract is therefore a crucial component to ensuring the successful delivery of a project, where there is a supply of a product or service for a fee.
This course introduces you to the principles of establishing contractual relationships and managing these relationships, specifically in a project environment, to ensure successful delivery of your project. You will gain a particular awareness of contract legal and management issues governing contractual relationships in a wide scope of application areas.
Who should attend? The manager, engineer, supervisor, or frankly anyone who is entering, or who has recently entered, the field of contract management, and who needs some formal introduction to the concepts in this field. This course will also serve as a refresher for experienced practitioners in the field of contract and project management. The course is not focused to any particular sector or industry, and as such, is applicable for any industry, the private and public sectors, for-profit companies and not-for-profit organisations, and any individual or organisation wishing to develop a more strategic, focused and managed approach to delivering contracts.
