Course Description:

'' Today’s professionals not only need to be competent in their chosen fields, they also need to be competent writers. As technology has advanced, writing skills have declined, leaving competent writers as an elite, minority group. This course provides a practical introduction to business writing. It examines the makeup of effective writing and provides valuable time to structure and write effective business documents for a variety of business contexts, including letters, reports and memos. The course has an emphasis on writing for the reader, in a succinct manner, using Plain English.

Who should attend?
This course has been designed for professionals whose work requires the writing of quality reports and business documents for internal (management) and/or external (clients, funding bodies) readers.

Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- identify the purpose of the writing
- identify the audience’s needs
- utilise a wide range of effective strategies for writing and editing reports, letters and other formal and informal documents
- apply the concept of Plain English in your writing
- select and organise information logically
- demonstrate, through writing letters, reports and memos, that the content is appropriate for the writer’s purpose, the organisational conventions and the requirements of the intended audience.
