Course Description:

'' As a maintenance manager, you will often need to obtain a professional overview of your task, even though you may have been practising in your area for some time. This course introduces the basic concepts of maintenance management in order to make you aware of the science and discipline behind the function of the maintenance manager. The main focus is on the principles of maintenance management and the course assumes no formal training in this area. It also serves as a useful refresher to introduce practising maintenance managers to the concepts underpinning your task.

Who should attend?
This course is designed for those who have, or are about to have, responsibility for managing a maintenance function. Current practitioners will gain valuable insights into the background of their work, while new entrants will receive a grounding in the fundamental issues of their maintenance roles. In all cases participants will be better prepared for their task.

Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you will have learned how to become an effective maintenance manager and in particular how to:
- understand the fundamentals of maintenance management and maintenance economics
- manage maintenance issues such as equipment replacement, maintenance cost control, shutdown management, spares inventory and computerisation
- deal with reliability-centred maintenance issues
- deal with maintenance risk
- determine the effectiveness of your maintenance operation.
