'' Databases have become ubiquitous. Many people use databases every day, sometimes without even noticing them, in libraries, on the Web, or when shopping. Others would have to query databases explicitly, or even develop their own databases. This course introduces the basics of relational databases and the SQL query language. The course includes theoretical and practical sessions. You have the opportunity to work with a database management system, exploring several databases and posing queries. SQL-Tutor and EER-Tutor, two Web-based learning environments, are available during and after the course, which enables you to practise SQL and database design, and provides feedback on solutions.
Who should attend? This course is designed for people who have a basic understanding of databases, and need to learn how to design databases and use the SQL database language.
