'' Most of us are unique individuals working together in groups. This is a potential cause of tension. This course is designed to enable you as an individual to identify personal characteristics which work well and those which disadvantage you in the workplace. The workshop is confidential to participants and gives opportunities to discuss freely the stumbling blocks to effective communication at work. The peer learning used in this course is consistently rated as one of the highlights of the course. For maximum benefit, this course should be taken in conjunction with Communications Skills for Difficult Situations.

Who should attend?
This course is designed for people who want to increase effectiveness at work by improving understanding of their communication style - communicating smarter, not louder.

Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, you will have learned:
- the differences between ’at home’ and ’at work’ communications
- how to get the best out of work dialogues by using supportive communication
- how you appear to others
- to recognise your preferred communication style
- your ’hot buttons’ which require you to practise tolerance of differences in others at work
- how groups work and how to make worthwhile contributions to groups and meetings
- that differences in personal style make the concept of ’personality clash’ redundant.
