'' This course equips students with the skills and techniques needed to successfully manage and lead knowledge-based projects of today. In addition to software development, the course deals with projects involving content development, systems development, technology infrastructure, and research. The focus is on modern agile project management techniques and is, therefore, helpful for those who want to learn or transition to agile methodologies; however, traditional project management based on A PMI’s Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge--Fourth Edition also is covered. Instruction is based upon the principles that the management of projects is best driven by processes, rather than by heroic efforts, and that agility and process-orientation should be balanced depending upon the nature of the projects. The CMMI-DEV 1.2 processes are discussed, as well as the techniques of problem analysis, decision analysis, and future problem/opportunity analysis that are an important toolset for any manager. ...''
