'' UNIT - I (a) Meaning, Definitions and Features of Co-operation Principles of Co-operation by Rochdale Pioneers and I.C.A. - Contribution of (i) Robert Owen (ii) Louis Blanc (iii) V.L. Mehta (iv) D.R. Gadgil in the sphere of Co- operation and Sarvodaya, Gandhiji’s Ideal of Co- operation. (b) Co-operation and other forms of system (i) Co-operation and Capitalism and (ii) Co-operation and Socialism. (c) Concept of surplus in Co-operatives as distinguished from the concept of profit. Methods of distribution of Surplus in Co-op’s, Conclusion. Horizontal and Vertical Integration in Co-operatives. UNIT - II Co-operation in foreign lands - Genesis and growth of Co-operative movement in different countries of the world : (i) Consumers Co-operation in U.K. and Sweden. (ii) Co-operation credit in Germany. (iii) Dairy Co-operatives and Denmark. (iv) Collective farms of Russia. (v) Agricultural Co-operatives of Japan and (vi) Marketing Co-operatives of U.S.A. and Canada. UNIT - III Role of RBI in the Development of Co-operative Movement with reference to India. Role of RBI during pre-independence and post independence period. Provision of finance and building up of Rural Credit - Training of Co-operative Personnels, suitability of Reserve Bank, Argument in favour of separate Agency : - State of Co-operative Movement in India. - Role of National Co-operative Development Corporation in the sphere of Co-operation. (importance, functions, objectives and conclusion). UNIT - IV Important landmarks in the history of Co-operative legislation in India. (Act of 1904, Act of 1912,) The Constitutional Reform of 1919, Essential Provision of Co-operative Act and recent trends in Co-operative legislation, current trend in Co-operative policy. - Co-operation under Five Year Plan : (i) All India Rural Credit Survey Committee’s Recommendation (1954). (ii) All India Rural Credit Review Committee (1969). (iii) Co-operation under Sixth, Seventh, Eighth Five Year Plan, specific objectives, strategy and target of Co- operative development, progress. ...''
