Course Description:
'' This course covers the study of fundamental combinational and sequential logic circuit analysis and design, as well as digital arithmetic: operations and circuits. Combinational concepts covered include Boolean algebra, K-maps, basic logic gates, and small/medium scale integrated circuits. Sequential concepts covered include basic latches/flip-flops, counters, memory registers, and basic synchronous systems. Digital arithmetic concepts covered include binary addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. Arithmetic circuits covered include ALU and adders. The course concludes with a brief touch on microprocessors concepts and operations.
Course Objectives:
The objective of this course is to introduce fundamental concepts for the building blocks of digital systems. The course aims at equipping the attendees with the necessary background to analyze and design different parts of the digital system. The course is constructed to:
Develop theoretical basis of the digital system components with solid principles for how to match different parts to carry out the intended function of the system. Develop confidence in using the digital number systems to design analyze and understand the combinational circuits. Master the basic operations of the microprocessors and how to use them in different them in different applications. ...''
