This course is a practical elementary structural analysis course that contains step-by-step procedures that include instructions that help understand and solve routine building structural problems. Course Content: Determinate Structures: Equilibrium and Support Reactions. Computation of Reactions. Principle of Superposition, stability and determinacy. Plane Trusses: Assumptions for analysis of trusses, equations of conditions of plane trusses, static determinacy, indeterminacy, and stability, analysis of plane trusses by the method of sections, Analysis of plane trusses with the method of joints. Beams and Frames: Axial Force, Shear, and Bending Moment Diagrams. Relationships between Loads, Shears, and Bending Moments. Deflections of Beams: Geometric Methods.
