'' This certification lays the foundation for all other Cisco certifications. The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) designation indicates an apprentice knowledge of networking. The Cisco Certified Network Associate knows how to install, configure, and operate simple (100 nodes or fewer) routed LAN, WAN, and dial access services, as well as switched LANs and ATM LANE networks. They also need to be able to optimize WAN traffic through Internet access solutions that reduce bandwidth and reduce WAN costs using features such as: Filtering with Access Lists, Bandwidth on Demand (BOD), and Dial on demand routing (DDR). The protocols and concepts included in this understanding are IP, IGRP, IPX, Serial, AppleTalk, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, IPX RIP, Ethernet, and Access Lists. Although there are no prerequisites to test for the CCNA certification, to remain competitive and succeed as you pursue your career, proper training is essential for extending your knowledge and strengthening your professional options.
Certification Exams
Once you have completed your training and preparation for the respective course, you must demonstrate your proficiency by passing both INTRO Exam #640-821 and ICND Exam #640-811 to earn the Cisco Certified Network Associate designation. Alternatively, you can take just the CCNA Exam #640-801 to earn the designation. Just be aware that CCNA Exam #640-801 will test you on all of the material taught in both of the courses listed above.
