'' This course is designed to provide the database application designer or application programmer with the knowledge to recognize when an IBM stored procedure is the correct solution for an application. It also covers how to:

‿Set up the environment to support stored procedures

‿Use the DB2 Development Center

‿CALL a stored procedure

‿Create a stored procedure using DDL

‿Troubleshoot a stored procedure

‿Creating Triggers of different usage

‿User Defined Functions and their advantages

This course will be taught using classroom lectures and machine lab exercises. Participant workstations will be on a Windows platform. The database server will be a DB2 for UDB for z/OS system. Participant will utilize the facilities of the DB2 Development Center, create COBOL stored procedures, and be able to troubleshoot stored procedures using the DB2 Development Center.
OBJECTIVES :

After completing this course, participant should be able to:

‿Describe DB2 stored procedures and discuss z/OS-related platform requirements and

‿Discuss and demonstrate DB2 Development Center capabilities

‿Describe and demonstrate Debug tool for z/OS capabilities

‿Create and test-drive a stored procedure

‿Create and run stored procedure client programs

‿Create and test-drive a stored procedure that returns result sets

‿Create and run stored procedure client programs that receive result sets

‿Discuss the use of stored procedures in ODBC client programs
