Course Description:
'' Financial Accounting, which is covered in ADM2213, focuses on the provision of financial information for parties external to an organization. Managerial Accounting, on the other hand, focuses on meeting the the information needs of individuals inside the organization.
Internal decision makers need information for short-term planning and control as well as for long-term strategic planning and non-routine decision-making. The objective of this course is to provide you with a clear understanding of basic concepts and techniques used in managerial accounting. The techniques and concepts you will be exposed to will focus on those that facilitate the planning, control and decision making activities of an organization.
By the conclusion of this course, you should be able to:
Recognize, understand and work with costs that behave in different ways.
Develop product and service costs using various overhead allocation methods.
Understand how to account for inventory and cost of goods sold using a job order costing system.
Use cost/volume/profit analysis as an analytical tool.
Prepare a master budget and analyze variances resulting from a comparison of actual results to the budget.
Comprehend the concept of relevant cost analysis and be able to apply it to the analysis of alternatives for various types of decisions. ...''
