'' This theory course promotes advanced clinical decision making and management of nursing therapeutics. Encompassing a broad range of nursing therapeutics, such as pharmacology, lifestyle, counseling, and complementary therapies, this course refines understanding and increases ability to promote clients optimal health behaviors within the socioeconomic and cultural context.

The course emphasizes knowledge of drugs commonly encountered in primary care settings (such as those prescribed for infection, pain, endocrine, respiratory and cardiovascular systems). A thorough discussion of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics will provide the basis for learning how pharmacoptherapeutic agents work in the body. Students also will learn about potential side effects and interactions; the influence of concurrent health problems, and adherence issues.
