'' This program is thus designed to prepare students for careers in Tourism, Hospitality and Travel by focusing on the skills necessary to meet and surpass the needs of the traveling public. Students will be provided opportunities to develop social and interpersonal relations skills, while receiving training in the technical aspects of the Tourism, Hospitality and Travel industry. The curriculum is designed to meet the standards established by the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council, local tourism, tourism associations, such as Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador, and endorsed by CITC (the Travel Industry Standards Division of the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors).
Certifications:
Successful graduates will also meet the requirements to challenge the professional certification process through Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador, a Canadian recognized 3 step certification process, allowing for certification in the following: Sales Manager, Front Desk Agent, Reservations/Sales Agent, Tour Director, Special Events Coordinator, Tour Guide, and Travel Counsellor once employed in the industry. In addition interested students may write the national entry level exam offered by the CITC (Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors) to become a Certified Travel Counsellor (CTC) or a Certified Travel Manager (CTM).
