'' This course provides programmers and system administrators the requisite information for building dynamic Web-based business solutions using Microsofts Active Server Pages. Students learn how to control the dialogue between the browser and server, build Web-based access to databases, create Web applications, and customize a visitors experience at a Web site. The course project, which requires the creation a custom online catalog, reinforces the development of these skills.
Learning Objectives After completing this course, students will be able to:
Create and run ASP scripts within HTML pages Display constants, variables, and results on a Web page Read, store, and display user data input entered through HTML forms Create and read browser cookies Maintain information as a user moves from one HTML page to another Display a banner that rotates through a series of images or text blocks Share a Web-based application among multiple users Connect a database to an ASP application to retrieve, display, update, and write data records Prerequisites Students must have a working knowledge of HTML, an understanding of basic database concepts, familiarity with a scripting language (preferably VBScript or JScript/JavaScript), and a basic understanding of IIS. DigitalThinks HTML Fundamentals I, Introduction to ActiveX with VBScript, or Introduction to JavaScript, or equivalent knowledge and experience is recommended.
