'' Working primarily on the Macintosh platform, students will learn industry standard music programs for audio recording and processing. Analogue and digital sound theory will be studied in the classroom, as well as microphone types and placement. In the recording studio students will learn, among other topics, studio design and acoustics, signal flow, I/O connections, hardware and software based effects and dynamic processing, and mixing and mastering.
The roles of the recording engineer and the music producer, as well as the nature of the music industry itself, will be explored. Students will also learn to create advertisements for radio broadcasts and video/audio synchronization. Since knowledge of musical song structure is crucial for both sound engineers and producers, the program includes courses in music theory, songwriting, and arranging. Students will gain hands-on studio experience and develop portfolios by engineering and producing each others projects. ...''
