Course Description:

'' This course, which assumes no accounting background on the part of the student, is intended to provide a strong foundation for future studies in accounting. The student will learn introductory theory and application of the double entry accounting cycle for a service company. The student will develop a clear understanding of accounting terminology and the accounting process from recording and posting transactions to preparing formal financial statements to closing the books at the end of the accounting period for a sole proprietor. The student will become familiar with banking procedures, bank reconciliations, managing a petty cash fund, adjusting entries and using different kinds of special journals. The course also covers extensively the accounting cycle of a merchandise company, periodic and perpetual inventory systems, and assigning cost to inventory. Accuracy and ethics are stressed throughout the course along with techniques to detect and reduce bookkeepers�errors ...''
