'' This course, which assumes no accounting background on the part of the student, is intended to provide an introductory foundation for future studies in payroll. The Canadian Payroll Association recognizes this course as one of the compulsory courses for Payroll Compliance Practitioner Designation. This course provides the students with the knowledge of legislative requirements needed for administering a payroll system. The student will learn payroll practices and procedures of the Province of NB as well as the other 9 provinces and the 3 territories. The student will become familiar with the following topics: The contract of employment, employment laws in NB, employment laws in the other 9 provinces and the 3 territories, trade unions and collective bargaining, human rights legislation, the difference between an employee and a self employed individual, the relationship between an employer and an employee, creating and maintaining a personnel file, purpose of the payroll department, and the required flow of payroll information internally and externally. ...''
