'' The student learns to become competent in manual bookkeeping, accounting terminology, basics for bookkeeping, the general ledger, bank reconciliation, the trial balance and financial statements. This portion of the course covers the basic payroll practices and procedures and includes the following topics: Payroll Overview, Employment Standards, Earnings, Taxable Benefits (Part 1), Canada Pension Plans, Employment Insurance, Taxation, Net Pay and Record of Employment. Students will also use PC software packages (Simply Accounting) to perform accounting functions on a practice set of accounting records and financial statements.
