'' This unit covers the development of a plan for the marketing of a financial product. It covers the analysis of market data, setting of practical and achievable targets and evaluating the results.
1. Identify the organisations strategic directions 1.1 Strategic planning documents, including assessment of market needs, are obtained and analysed 1.2 Previous marketing performance is reviewed to identify factors affecting performance 1.3 Information on market needs, new opportunities and customer requirements is collected and analysed as a basis for decision making 2. Establish performance targets 2.1 Market share targets that are practical and achievable are determined 2.2 Realistic timelines are established and documented consistent with the operational plans 2.3 Measures to allow for monitoring of performance are determined and documented 2.4 Objectives of the marketing plan are consistent with organisation strategic directions and business plan 3. Develop a marketing plan for a financial product 3.1 Plan is formulated, describing the approaches to be adopted for meeting the targets 3.2 Risks are identified and control measures included in the plan 3.3 Promotional materials are prepared and distributed 3.4 Appropriate distribution channels for financial products are identified 3.5 Budget for the marketing plan is prepared 3.6 The marketing plan is presented to appropriate personnel for approval 4. Identify support requirements 4.1 Staff resources required to carry out the plan are identified 4.2 Training is provided, if necessary, to ensure sound understanding of financial products 5. Distribute products 5.1 Distribution channels are defined and established 5.2 Adequate product documentation is distributed on time 6. Monitor and review the plan 6.1 Marketing plan is monitored and data measuring performance against targets is recorded 6.2 Distribution channel performance is monitored and adjustments to the marketing plan are made, as necessary, to ensure the required result is obtained ...''
