'' This course is an initial teaching qualification for university graduates wishing to enter the TESOL profession. In this course you will examine pronunciation, intonation, voice quality, spelling and sound systems. Grammar, sentence structures, syntax, morphology, word meanings and semantics are also considered. You will examine a selection of the different varieties of English spoken throughout the world, including L1 speaker Englishes (eg British and Australian) and nativised varieties (such as Singaporean, Indigenous and Indian Englishes), exploring and analysing the differences in pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and sociocultural roles. You will also explore the languages and language families of East Asia.

Your studies will focus on teaching English as a second language (TESL) and teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) methods and approaches. You will develop practical teaching skills and learn approaches to lesson planning and presenting a new language. You will also learn new approaches to teaching reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
