The Veterinary Assistant Diploma program is 6 ½ months in length, consisting of 5 ½ months of theoretical and clinical study and one month of practicum arranged for you by West Coast College.
A Veterinary Assistant is a vital component of the Animal Health Care Team. Graduates have the skills to work in a variety of places: Veterinary clinics and hospitals, Emergency and Critical Care facilities, laboratories, Animal welfare and wildlife shelters, Animal retail industry and Animal Boarding or Kennel Facilities.
The role of the Veterinary Assistant can include: assisting the Veterinarian and Animal Health Technologist with animal restraint, pre and post surgical nursing, dispensing medications and care products to the client, front office duties and preparation for clinical procedures.
