“Since the massage therapist is becoming a more significant part of Western health care system, she/he must be able to communicate with other health care professionals intelligently and accurately about disease and their response to massage therapy.
Massage therapists must be able to recognize the major characteristics of disease from which their clients may suffer so as to be able to avoid appropriate massage strokes, give accurate information to these clients, and refer them to appropriate physicians when it is indicated.�
