'' JCU’s School of Earth and Environmental Sciences has an established reputation for research in tropical environments and protected area management. Its suite of courses in protected area management provide specialist training for science graduates already working in this area (national parks and world heritage listed areas) who wish to advance their careers.
The courses provide specialist training in the background, principles, techniques and practices of protected area management, with a particular emphasis on tropical environments. Core subjects provide the foundation and adopt a global perspective. Students develop a thorough appreciation of the issues involved in protected area management. Electives are available across a wide range of science disciplines, enabling students to include and develop special interests.
These are flexible programs. Students devise a program of coursework in consultation with the Course Coordinator to match their professional goals and interests.
