'' This course is an advanced qualification for teachers of Languages Other Than English (LOTE). It can be taken as the first year of the two-year Master of Applied Linguistics. Graduates with an initial teaching qualification are qualified for employment in all LOTE teaching sectors, but the course is not an initial teaching qualification for Australian schools.
Course structure Core subjects include LOTE Teaching Methodology (at an introductory or advanced level) and 22 days of Language Teaching Practice. Students select three additional subjects from Second Language Acquisition, Intercultural Communication and Education, Language Curriculum, Materials Development and Assessment, or other relevant subjects as approved by the course coordinator.
